At IIHM Vasai West, we believe in providing our hospitality and management students with hands-on learning experiences that prepare them for the real world. One of the most exciting and educational events is the annual gala organized by third-year BSc students as part of their curriculum, which also contributes marks to their final exam.
Since 2020, these events have been a tradition, offering students a platform to showcase their skills in event management, culinary arts, and teamwork. The first event in 2020 followed a Chokhi Dhani theme, followed by the Rangla Punjab theme in 2023 and Avinya Bharat in 2024. This year, 2025, we proudly hosted the “Rajbhog” event, celebrating the rich culture and traditions of India.
These events are not just about organizing a party—they are a full-scale operation. Students are tasked with cooking for 400-500 people, securing sponsorships, and handling the logistics. Whether it’s preparing delicious food, raising funds, or performing in cultural events like singing and dancing, every student gets the chance to shine.
Each student is assigned a specific role based on their department interest—be it finance, security, or event coordination—and positions like General Manager (GM), Heads of Departments (HOD), and Finance Manager are appointed to ensure smooth execution. This not only adds professionalism to the event but also teaches students the importance of teamwork, responsibility, and leadership.
Organizing such large-scale events helps students develop critical skills, including time management, communication, and problem-solving, which are vital in the hospitality industry. These experiences prepare our students to take on leadership roles in their future careers, making them well-equipped to succeed in the competitive world of hospitality.
